The main impact for the sustainable development goals comes from the stainless steel product itself. Stainless steel as material is 100% recyclable, corrosion-resistant, maintenance-free, durable and hygienic. Outokumpu has been instrumental in developing the stainless steel industry into what it is today. In 2016, Outokumpu sales were 5,690 million euros and stainless steel deliveries 2,318,000 tonnes. Outokumpu employs some 10,600 professionals in more than 30 countries, with headquarters in Helsinki, Finland. Operation sits are located in Finland, Germany, Mexico, Sweden, the United Kingdom and United States. Shares are listed in the Nasdaq Helsinki.

Outokumpu monitors environmental data in an integrated, efficient, accurate and transparent manner as a part of the Group-wide environmental performance management. In addition to the reporting of the data, this system was designed to follow upon the Group’s KPIs such as carbon profile, energy and material efficiency.
Tofuture´s Corporate Sustainability Management (CSM) system has now been used for several years. The design and implementation were efficiently carried out with the help of Tofuture specialists. With the CSM tool, it is easy to create different data analyses and reports on all organizational levels.
One of the key issues in the system selection was to make sure that the data is reliable and auditable and that the system always leaves an audit trail to follow back to the source of the data. Outokumpu is currently including different assessments and several options in the reporting system. Based on our experience with the system and Tofuture’s services, we are confident that we can continue to communicate our sustainability work based on a reliable data also in the future.
